Ukrainian Community in the Netherlands: Years of Support and Solidarity
Since 2008, the Ukrainian community in the Netherlands has been consistently working to support Ukraine, preserving its national identity, uniting compatriots, and building partnerships with Dutch society.
With the beginning of the events of 2014, the community intensified its humanitarian activities, organizing the collection and delivery of aid to the affected regions of Ukraine. Even then, an effective network of volunteers, logistics, and communication was created, which allowed for a prompt response to the country’s needs.
On February 24, 2022, after Russia’s full-scale invasion of independent Ukraine, the Ukrainian community in the Netherlands immediately mobilized. A large-scale campaign to support Ukraine was launched, uniting volunteers, entrepreneurs, doctors, and concerned citizens.
From the first days of the invasion, a systematic collection and delivery of humanitarian aid to various regions of Ukraine, including frontline areas, was organized.
During the period of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian community in the Netherlands transferred over 580 tons of humanitarian aid, including:
- medical equipment and medicines;
- food and basic necessities;
- generators, water pumps, motor boats and engines;
- cars for military personnel, medics, volunteers and humanitarian organizations;
- military equipment and gear;
- technical equipment to ensure life in combat conditions.
Special attention was paid to supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, medical institutions, territorial defense units and the civilian population in combat zones.
The Ukrainian community in the Netherlands not only provided material assistance, but also actively worked on information support for Ukraine, organized public events, demonstrations of solidarity, and communication with local authorities and society.
Today, the community continues its activities, remaining an important part of international support for Ukraine. Its work is an example of self-organization, responsibility, and true patriotism that knows no borders.
